Louisa May Alcott papers
Battle hymn of the republic
Printed item commemorating the founding of the New England Women's Club. The item was hand addressed to Mrs. Mary J. Judah and signed by the president of the club, Julia Ward Howe, in November 1892. The item includes all five verses of the "Battle Hymn of the Republic" and an account by Mrs. Howe of how she came to write the poem.
Willa Cather letters
Handwritten, typewritten, and signed letters. Four of the items are addressed to a "Mr. Wyer" and are dated 15 Feb. 1926, 27 June 1931, and 29 Aug. and 6 Sept. of unknown years. Cather tells Wyer about her social activities and contacts. Also included is a letter dated 4 Jan. of an unknown year from Cather to "Miss McNully," a reviewer. Cather praises McNully's well-written review and laments the poor quality of many reviews of her works.
Lillian de la Torre papers
Typed manuscripts of various plays; correspondence, 1966-1985; and research files on her plays, including photographs, scrapbooks, magazines, working notes, bibliographies, news clippings, and correspondence. Also contains certificates, including for Lillian's baptism (Catholic) and marriage.
Marion Gertrude Deavenport letters
Handwritten and typewritten letters addressed to a "Mrs. Henry" and composed in Rochester, New York. Deavenport discusses her book, "A Colonial History and Genealogy of Bickleys, Gardners, Polegreens, Millers, Dottins, Husbands: Ancestors of Mrs. Elizabeth Smith Deavenport" and other family history matters.
Henry A. Boller diaries and papers
Handwritten letters and diaries by Boller and his wife, Mary. The diaries discuss personal affairs. The letters deal with both personal and professional issues and document the literary career of Mary Boller.
Dorita : a little Maya girl
Handwritten and typewritten drafts of a story of a little girl. The story is about a real person but seems to have fictional elements in it. Also included are correspondence. Most of these items deal with Rhoads' attempts to get the story published.
Byrl Brown Dorland letter and newspaper clippings
Typewritten and signed letter dated 2 March 1984 and addressed to LeGrand Baker of the Brigham Young University Archives. The item was signed "Aunt Bo." It deals with her life and writing career. Also with the collection are newspaper articles either by or about Dorland. They include a crossword puzzle by her.
Byrl Brown Dorland newspaper clippings
Photocopies of newspaper clippings. The items are either by Dorland or about her and her work. Some of the materials deal with Dorland's interest in the career and grave of the American writer, Washington Irving (1783-1859).
Ivah Dunklee scrapbook
Letters received, photographs, autographs, newspaper clippings, and portraits. The items relate to Dunklee's friends and to her association with prominent American actors, singers, and writers. Many of the letters relate to Dunklee's writing projects.
