Scope and Contents

Collection primarily contains the papers related to two book collections donated to BYU by John A. Taylor: the "Anthony Trollope (1815-1882) collection" and "Benjamin Disraeli (1804-1881) collection." Also includes correspondence, invoices, and business papers related to Mrs. Trollope's Bazaar; articles/essays relating to Trollope; two videos about Benjamin Disraeli; newspaper/magazine articles; and a CD containing a PowerPoint presentation by Mr. Taylor about book collecting.

Content Description Materials include correspondence, newspaper clippings, articles, photographs, and other information collected or created by Taylor in his research on an angel that was placed atop the Salem Evangelical Church in Cincinnati, Ohio, that resembled that of the one placed on the original Nauvoo Temple, being vertical, holding a trumpet and having wings. Taylor became interested in the object while serving as a stake president in Cincinnati in the 1960s, and documented its origins and history. The...
