Photocopies of typescripts. File contains excerpts from three documents, all originally compiled by Evans Coleman: "History of the Coleman Family;" "Saint Johns Purchase;" and "Biography of Emma Beck Coleman." These documents were originally compiled between 1938 and 1942, although all of them refer to events either in Missouri during the late 1830s or in Arizona during the 1880s.

Photocopy of typescript. Author discusses his family's British roots; their acceptance of Mormonism while living in Birmingham, England, and their immigration to the United States. Tolton also describes his experiences during the Black Hawk War (Utah) and frontier life in Utah. His account goes into great detail about his involvement in territorial and state politics, his business ventures, family life, and his mission to Great Britain for the Mormon Church.

The work in a revised form was published in 1977 under the title: "Colonization on the Little Colorado: the Joseph City Region." The book is about Mormon settlement and colonization in the Little Colorado area of Northern Arizona.
