Miles Anderson papers

Scope and Contents This collection contains 2 diaries covering briefly related experiences and financial dealings of Anderson during the period of 1842-1856, from Nauvoo to the Utah Territory. Also includes patriarchal blessings given by Hyrum Smith and John Smith, as well as other documents and correspondence. Two diaries, family correspondence, patriarchal blessings, family land deeds, Nauvoo Legion Certificate, and War of 1812 pension certificate.

George H. Carver diaries

Scope and Contents Photocopy of handwritten diaries. The collection consists of two diaries. The first was kept from 1879 to 1880 while Carver was serving in the Southern States. The second was kept from 1898 to 1899 while Carter was working in the Northwestern States. Also included is an account of Carter's interview with a female servant of the infamous John D. Lee, who was associated with the Mountain Meadows Massacre of 1857.

John D. Lee diary

Scope and Contents Handwritten diary with a typed copy of the item. Lee kept this diary while serving in Tennessee as a missionary for the Mormon Church. Lee writes about his experiences as a missionary, the people with whom he stayed, the distances he travelled, and the debates he held with local ministers. He also includes poems, illustrations, and some genealogical notes.

Josiah Rogerson collection of handcart company sources

Scope and Contents Unpublished letters, autobiographies, reminiscences, and diaries collected by Josiah Rogerson to write a book on the ill-fated Willie and Martin handcart companies of 1856. The materials also include primary source materials on other aspects of Utah and Mormon history.

Mary Ann Hoopes Yearsley papers

Scope and Contents Materials include papers related primarily to Yearsley. Includes a holograph journal of a visit to her home state of Pennsylvania in 1872 and a printed life sketch compiled by James D. Cummings, a grandson, in 1914. Also includes her husband, David Dutton Yearsley's, missionary recommend signed by John D. Lee and Joseph Young, Nauvoo, Illinois, 1844. Dated 1844-1914.
