Much of the correspondence is between Dame and General Authorities of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The material relates to Dame's life and activities, including his militia service and his connection to the Mountain Meadows Massacre in 1857.

The materials relate to Nuttall's involvement in numerous Mormon Church and Utah Militia activities. Nuttall's position as secretary to the president of the Mormon Church allowed him to record various items on church conduct and doctrine. Jacob Foutz Secrist diaries and correspondence

Scope and Contents

Photocopies of handwritten correspondence, letters, and a patriarchal blessing. The materials were created when Secrist was serving on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Germany and Switzerland. The correspondents were his wife, Ann Eliza Logan Secrist, and other family members. Secrist writes about his missionary activities, and his wife and others tell about events in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Bathsheba W. Bigler Smith autobiography

Scope and Contents

Photocopy of a 260-page handwritten autobiography. Smith includes copies of correspondence and patriarchal blessings in her account. She joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1837, lived with the Mormons in Missouri and Illinois, married George Albert Smith in 1841, allowed him to take additional wives, came to Utah in 1849, and served as president of the Relief Society.

Jesse Nathaniel Smith papers

Autobiography, diary, correspondence, genealogies, patriarchal blessings, certificates, and miscellaneous items. Smith was the president of the Scandinavian Mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1862 to 1864 and an early settler in Salt Lake City and in Parowan, Utah and in Snowflake, Arizona.

John Smith papers

Collection contains papers related to Smith's mission to Denmark, life in Utah with family, and his position as Presiding Patriarch of the LDS Church. Photocopies of biographies, genealogies, patriarchal blessings, certificiates, and portraits. Many of the items relate to Mildred Elizabeth Allred (1898-1980), her family and ancestors. Also included are biographies of various members of the Allred family covering many aspects of early Mormon history. Most of these materials are unreliable family stories. Many of these people lived in Sanpete County, Utah.
