James Whittaker diaries

Scope and Contents

Photocopies of handwritten diaries, newspaper clippings, and a biography. Some of the diaries were kept in the pitman form of shorthand. Whittaker made two journeys from England to the United States, once in 1842 and again in 1851. He kept diaries of these trips and of crossing the continent to Utah in 1851.
