Levi Savage diaries

Scope and Contents Handwritten diaries. The original items are housed in two boxes while the photocopies of these materials are housed in three. There are many gaps in the entries including a sixteen-year gap from 1861 to 1877. Savage writes about his mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to "Siam" (Thailand) from 1852 to 1856. Edward Schoenfeld autobiography

Scope and Contents

Holograph autobiography (three leaves), genealogy of the Schoenfeld and Springall families (two leaves), and a postcard of Tansberg, Germany, where Edward was born. Schoenfeld joined the Mormon Church in 1855, migrated to Utah in 1857, and settled in Provo. He married Mary Alice Springall and served as mission president to the Swiss and German Mission for the Mormon Church from 1870 to 1872. He also edited the Mormon Church magazine "Stern" while serving as mission president.

John Scott diary

Scope and Contents

Typewritten copy of a diary. Scott kept the first part of this diary in 1847 and in 1848 when preparing to migrate from Winter Quarters, Nebraska to Utah. He also kept his diary from 1855 to 1856 while serving on a mission for the Mormon Church in Ireland. Also included is a patriarchal blessing given to Scott.

Scope and Contents

The collection consists of photocopies of Smith's mission diary, his autobiography, some correspondence, and records of ordinances performed in the Endowment House in the 1870s. Smith kept his diary while serving on a mission to Great Britain (1860-1863). He recorded the activities and experiences of missionary life and activities. The autobiography is brief and covers from Smith's birth to 1857.

Handwritten autobiography with a photocopy of the item. The volume includes handwritten copies of letters received and patriarchal blessings of family members. Spilsbury writes about travelling in southern Utah as a patriarch, gives a brief description of his mission to Wales, talks about some of the prophecies of the first president of the LDS Church, Joseph Smith (1805-1844), and describes the exodus west of Mormons from Nauvoo, Illinois to Utah.
