Jesse Bigler Martin diaries

Scope and Contents Handwritten diaries with a typed copy of one volume. Martin kept diaries apparently in three volumes. The second and third volumes covering the time from 1854 to 1857 are found with the collection. A typed copy of the first diary covering the years from 1853 to 1854 is also included. Daniel Duncan McArthur autobiography

Scope and Contents Handwritten autobiography, photocopy of the manuscript, and a typescript of the item. McArthur was born in New York State; joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint in 1832; lived in Kirtland, Ohio, in Missouri, and in Nauvoo, Illinois. Reuben McBride diary

Scope and Contents

Photocopy of a microfilmed copy of a handwritten diary. McBride left on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the spring of 1857, and he went with a handcart company to the east. He later got passage to England where he served his mission.

David Moore diary, autobiography, and history

Scope and Contents

Typewritten copies of diaries, an autobiography, and a history. The diaries include an "Abridged History of the Salmon River Mission" which is Moore's journal for 1855 when he was serving in the mission. Also included are "Items of History" which tells about the early settlements in Weber County, Utah, and an autobiography to the year 1849 when Moore's diary begins.

David Pettigrew autobiography and diary

Scope and Contents Photocopy of a handwritten autobiography and diary with a typescript of the item. Pettigrew (apparently also spelled Pettegrew) started his autobiography in 1840. His diary is sporatic and has many gaps. Samuel W. Richards diaries

Scope and Contents

Photocopies of excerpts from handwritten diaries. The items cover the years 1846-1847, 1857-1859, 1868, 1869, 1873, and 1875-1876. Richards lived in Nauvoo, Illinois, presided over the European Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, prepared Utah Militia units for an expedition into Sanpete County, and served on another mission to the Eastern United States. Also included are patriarchal blessings and miscellaneous items relating to Richards and his family.

Samuel W. Richards papers

Scope and Contents

Photocopies of microfilmed copies of diaries, letters, notes, and financial records. Richards was born in Massachusetts in 1824 and joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He migrated to Nauvoo, Illinois, where he served in the "Nauvoo Legion" militia. Richards married Mary Parker in Nauvoo and moved to Utah in 1849. He served as missionary and mission president for his faith in Great Britain, the East U.S., and Europe. He was made a patriarch in 1902 and died in 1909.

Silas LeRoy Richards diary and family histories

Scope and Contents

Handwritten autobiography and diary, family histories, genealogies, patriarchal blessings, and mementos. Much of the material relates to the history and genealogies of the Richards, Rhead (Reed), Stanley, and Huffman (Hoffman) families. Silas was born in Union and later moved to Salt Lake City, Utah. He held several jobs and served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Southern States Mission from 1902 to 1905.
