Arza Adams autobiographies and diaries

Scope and Contents Photocopies of microfilm copies of handwritten diaries. Adams joined the Mormon Church in 1836 and served as missionary for that faith in Canada. He moved to Nauvoo, Illinois, and worked on the Nauvoo Temple. He came to Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1849.
Dates: approximately 1840-1858

Andrew Amundsen autobiography and diary

Scope and Contents Typescript of an autobiography and of a diary. Amundsen writes about his early life, conversion to the Mormon Church, his migration to Utah, his missions for the Mormon Church in Arizona and Norway, and his life in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Eugene M. Cannon diaries

Scope and Contents Handwritten diaries in ink and pencil. Cannon writes about his first mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Tahiti starting in 1893 and about his activities in Salt Lake City, Utah. Also included are notes on the Tahitian language.

Joseph Y. Card diaries

Scope and Contents Handwritten diaries. Card lived in Logan and Salt Lake City, Utah and in Cardston, Alberta. He farmed and ran an insurance business. He held many positions in the Mormon Church including mission president of the Western Canadian Mission in Edmonton.

Joseph Hatten Carpenter diaries

Scope and Contents Handwritten diaries, notes, account books, correspondence, and a translation of the Book of Mormon into the Samoan language. Carpenter writes about his mission for the Mormon Church in Samoa and about his activities as a resident of Manti. Late in life, Carpenter moved to Salt Lake City, Utah. Also included is a printed copy of a microfilm copy of a handwritten diary. Carpenter also writes about his early life and his travels to northern Germany and France in 1884 and 1885.

Henry Aldous Dixon diaries

Scope and Contents Handwritten diaries. Dixon writes about his missionary activities in for the Mormon experience in England and South Africa. Dixon also tells about his work in the general tithing office of the Mormon Church in Salt Lake City, Utah, and his work for the Provo Woolen Mills in Provo, Utah.

John Druce diary

Scope and Contents Photocopy of a handwritten diary. Druce was born in England; was apprenticed as a baker in London in the 1830s; moved to Manchester; joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1842; migrated to the United States in 1846; worked as an engraver in New York State; migrated to Utah in 1861; settled in Salt Lake City, Utah; and served on a mission for the Church in the Eastern States in 1876.

James Holt autobiography

Scope and Contents Photocopy of typescript of an autobiography by James Holt (1804-1894). Holt talks about his early years, conversion to the Mormon Church, faith promoting experiences while preaching Mormon doctrine, hardships endured due to persecution, and traveling west to the Rocky Mountains.

Scope and Contents The collection contains (1) the journals of LaFayette C. Lee and Pearl M. Lee during and after their mission to Japan; (2) photocopies of several nineteenth-century items, including photographs and a Nauvoo receipt; and (3) photocopies of a photo album from mission to Japan, 1915-1919.

John Murdock autobiographies and an essay

Scope and Contents Photocopies of microfilm copies of handwritten materials. The collection consists of a lengthy and a shortened version of an autobiography. Murdock wrote about his early life and his converstion to the Mormon Church in 1830. He followed that faith to Kirtland, Ohio; Missouri; and Illinois. He migrated to Council Bluffs, Iowa, and came to Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1847. He served on missions for the Mormon Church in New York and Australia.
