Arza Adams autobiographies and diaries
Photocopies of microfilm copies of handwritten diaries. Adams joined the Mormon Church in 1836 and served as missionary for that faith in Canada. He moved to Nauvoo, Illinois, and worked on the Nauvoo Temple. He came to Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1849.
Henry William Bigler diary
Jacob G. Bigler diaries and correspondence
Photocopy of a microfilm copy of handwritten diaries and correspondence. Bigler was a bishop for the Mormon Church in Nephi, Utah. He also served as a member of the Utah territorial legislature and was mayor of Nephi. Bigler served as a Mormon missionary to Ireland and as president of the European Mission for that same faith. The collection also includes correspondence between Bigler and family members mostly when he served as a missionary in Ireland.
Matthew and Elva T. Cowley papers
Holographs, typescripts (some duplicated), printed material and newspaper clippings (photocopies). Contains journals, correspondence, mission papers, speeches and notes, newspaper clippings, and memorabilia concerning Cowley's mission to New Zealand, time as a student in Washington, D.C., his life as a mission president and Apostle, and the development of missionary activity in the South Pacific and Orient. Also included are an autobiography by Elva T. Cowley and Cowley family histories.
Einar Erickson autobiography
Photocopy of a handwritten autobiography. Erickson describes his early life in Iceland, his conversion to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, his migration to Utah, his return to Iceland as an Mormon missionary, and his life in Spanish Fork and in Cleveland, Utah. Also included is a lengthy poem in Icelandic.
Thomas William Gunn mission diaries
Thomas Hall diary
Account of his mission to Canada for the Mormon Church. Describes traveling east from Salt Lake City by handcart in the spring of 1857, and his missionary labors in Ontario, particularly in the vicinity of London.
John R. Halliday memoirs
Includes a two-page vita, and recollections of the author's ancestors, family and youth; professional life; church activities; and hobbies. He served a Latter-day Saint mission in Germany, 1931-1933; studied music at the State Academy of Music in Berlin, Germany, 1933-1934; and worked in the Department of Music at Brigham Young University, 1936-1938 and again beginning in 1942. Material was dictated by John R. Halliday in June 1971, and later transcribed.
