James Holt autobiography

Typescript of an autobiography. Holt writes about his childhood, conversion to the Mormon Church, mission for that faith in Tennessee, and migration to Salt Lake City, Utah. He also tells about the confusion in the Mormon Church after the death of its first president, Joseph Smith.

Collection contains diaries, ephemera, and patriarchal blessings produced by Oliver Boardman Huntington and his son, Oliver B. Huntington. Items document the early history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Mormon exodus to the West, and the establishment and early development of Utah. Materials date from between 1843 and 1932.

Bengt Johnson autobiography

Photocopies of a holograph autobiography. Bengt Johnson Sr. was a Swedish convert to the Mormon Church and was baptized in 1854. He came to Utah in 1862 and settled in Provo. His account largely tells of his adjustment to Mormonism.

Chasta Johnson family history

Contains a family history written by Chasta Johnson. It outlines her ancestors' experiences joining the Church in England, moving to America, their struggle with persecution, pioneer expedition, and missionary work. She discusses how many of her relatives were the first Mormon missionaries to circumnavigate the globe, spending much of their time in Calcutta. Materials are dated approximately 1930-1950.

This collection consists of 12 leaves photocopied from a typewritten newspaper article authored by Era P. Lowe, son of Thomas G. Lowe who was a Mormon pioneer; Indian scout, missionary, and colonizer. Thomas Lowe also built tabernacles and other community buildings under the direction of Brigham Young and John Taylor. Thomas was held in high regard among the Mormons, non-Mormons, and Indians alike and served in many community and Mormon Church positions.

Jesse Bigler Martin diaries

Scope and Contents Handwritten diaries with a typed copy of one volume. Martin kept diaries apparently in three volumes. The second and third volumes covering the time from 1854 to 1857 are found with the collection. A typed copy of the first diary covering the years from 1853 to 1854 is also included. McArthur was born in New York State; joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint in 1832; lived in Kirtland, Ohio, in Missouri, and in Nauvoo, Illinois.
