Six weeks tour through the Scottish Highlands
Scope and Contents
The manuscript was written to "Miss Mary Blundell" who was the author's sister, and is the "journal" of a "Six Weeks Tour." The first half of the material is dated from 10 June to 7 July 1835. The remaining section was not divided by date. The document is bound and a number of contemporary engravings of Scotland are found in it. The manuscript was possibly prepared for publication because it is the same format as a printed book, but it never appeared in that form. The document includes an index at the back.
A letter of 14 pages is found with the manuscript. It was written to "My beloved Sarah" in August 1834. The letter was probably written by Sarah Wilks' sister Mary Blundell. The missive describes a yacht race off the coast of England.
