History of the provisional national assembly, its opinions and resolutions in Basel 1798
Scope and Contents
Notes on the activities of the Swiss national assembly written in German in Basel in 1798 including its opinions and resolutions. The account was kept with notations for the various days the assembly met from Feb. 6 to April 18, 1798. The convention published the first Swiss constitution on April 12 which established the Helvetic Republic (1798-1803). The constitution was made at the insistance of the French occupation forces and was heavily influenced by the French constitution of 1795.
