Administrative History

Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) was introduced at Brigham Young University beginning in the early 1960s. Ten years later, the Technology Department was given approval to raise funds for the creation of a CAM Laboratory. In 1976 the University completed the construction of Phase I of the CAD/CAM lab, and the department was able install the various equipment and materials they had acquired. The CAM Laboratory also worked on developing and improving the software used by their machinery. CAM is still taught by the School of Technology as part of their Manufacturing Engineering Technology program.
