Jeffrey R. Holland (1940-) served as President of Brigham Young University from 1980 to 1989.

Jeffrey Roy Holland was born in St. George, Utah. He served a mission to England from 1960 to 1962 before returning to St. George where he married his wife, Patricia Terry, whom he had courted prior to his mission. He later chose to pursue a doctoral degree at Yale University, and upon graduation in 1972, he returned to Utah were he contined to work with the CES as a teacher at the Salt Lake Institue. This was short lived as months later, he was called as the director of the church's new Melchizedek Priesthood MIA. He held this position for two years before being appointed the Dean of Religious Education at BYU in 1974. In 1976, Holland was named the Commissioner of Education for the Church of Jesus Chirst of Latter-day Saints.
