Peter Bell interview

 File — Folder: 1
Identifier: MSS SC 3163

Scope and Contents

Transcript of an interview conducted by Peter Milanzi on 29 January 1985 for the Ray Hillam project. Bell joined the "Green Berets," Army Special Forces, after his mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was deployed to the northern part of Vietnam to do reconnaissance. He helped train the Cambodian Army, and talked about the hardship involved in killing after he returned from his mission. He added that the best part of his military experience was the opportunity to teach other members of the armed forces about the Mormon Church. Bell said that the underlying policies of the war were political, and that they did not justify the means employed.
