Scope and Contents

Materials include prints and negatives taken by Robert D. Adams. Photographs are primarily portraits of residents of Orderville, Utah. One photograph is of a family tree. There are also photographs of events and places in Orderville. There are also zincos (etched letterpress printing plates) that are portraits of individuals. Materials dated approximately 1930-1950.

Biographical / Historical

Robert D. Adams was born Robert Darius Adams on January 13, 1881 in Escalante, Utah to Robert Nelson Adams and Margaret Ann Shirts. He married Jessie Ellen Billingsley on July 17, 1901 in Manti, Utah and, after Jessie's death in 1940, Mary Elizabeth Robinson on June 28, 1941 in St. George, Utah. He worked as a photographer throughout Central and Southern Utah between approximately 1900 and 1950. He died on June 11, 1956 in St. George, Utah.
