Scope and Contents
Collection includes 159 photographs, mainly of Mormon architecture in Utah including shots of temples, churches, tabernacles, and homes. Also included are some candid photographs of New York City. All are gelatin silver prints taken by John Homer Wakefield. Dated approximately 1916-1984.

Biographical / Historical
John Homer Wakefield was born on July 12, 1901 in Huntington, Utah. He married Louise Katherine Russell on January 31, 1942; they would go on to have six children. He graduated from Brigham Young University (BYU) with a degree in Botany. He obtained an advanced musicology degree from the University of Minnesota before joining the BYU music faculty in 1946. He was also an avid photographer and had photographs and portfolios published and displayed in a number of publications and locations. John Wakefield died on April 15, 1989 in Provo, Utah.

Custodial History
Materials were donated to the L. Tom Perry Special Collections by J. Homer Wakefield, the creator, in 1986. The materials were originally donated with 156 photographs of the campus of Brigham Young University; the collection was divided into two parts, with the first part retained by the University Archives.
