Biographical / Historical

David Bickersteth Magee was born June 18, 1905, in Gargrave, England to John Arthur Victor Magee and Gwendolen Georgiana Frances Mary Wilson. In 1925, he immigrated to the United States. He married Dorothea Wilder on October 1, 1931, in San Francisco, California. He worked throughout his life as a bookseller, often traveling back and forth between the United States and England. He died July 17, 1977, in San Francisco, California. David Bickersteth Magee (1905-1977) was a rare book dealer in San Francisco, California. He was the owner of Magee Book Shop.

Photographs were assembled by David Magee, of David Magee Antiquarian Book, prior to their purchase by Brigham Young University. During processing they were separated out from related print and manuscript materials.
