Scope and Contents

Collection of research materials, notes, and writings produced during the creation of Alan P. Johnson's book "Aaron Johnson, Faithful Steward: A Documentary History," written in 1991. Aaron Johnson was an early pioneer of Springville, Utah, and Alan Johnson's ancestor. Collection includes a folder called "Storm Clouds" that contains information surrounding the Parrish-Potter murder mystery in Springville in the 1850s. Also includes one photograph of Aaron Johnson's family, with his plural wives, in front of his home in Springville, and a printer's manuscript copy of the book. Materials are dated approximately 1980s to 1991.

Biographical / Historical

Alan Packard Johnson was born January 13, 1929. He wrote the book, "Aaron Johnson, Faithful Steward: A Documentary History," about his great-great-grandfather, Aaron Johnson. It was published in 1991. Alan is an author and historian from Springville, Utah.

Custodial History

Originally donated by Alan P. Johnson to the Springville Daughters of Utah Pioneers Museum following the publication of his book on Aaron Johnson. The papers were then given to J. Karl Franson, who passed them on to Brenda A. Knowlton, daughter of Alan P. Johnson. Brenda A. Knowlton donated them to Brigham Young University in October 2021.
