Collection includes documents related to Joseph Wilford Booth, who served missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Turkey, Armenia, and other countries in the Middle East from 1898 to his death in 1928. Includes photocopies of various articles, scrapbook pages, letters written from Syria, photographs, a transcript of memorial services, and other documents, collected by Relva Booth Ross. Includes a biographical sketch of Booth by Ross that does not have a date of creation, but was likely written in or before 1971, the year of Ross' death. Materials dated 1901 to 1971.

Biographical / Historical

Relva Eliza Booth was born on February 11, 1891 to Robert Ebenezer and Lovinia Jane (Chipman) Booth in Alpine, Utah. She was a teacher in Richfield, Utah, where she worked with Margaret Ross. Relva married James Aaron Ross, the brother of Margaret, on July 10, 1918, in Provo, Utah. Relva and James had one child, James Aaron Ross, who was killed in action in WWII on August 8, 1944 in Normandy, France. Relva Eliza Booth Ross died on December 9, 1971 in American Fork, Utah.

Custodial History

Materials were passed down to Lucille Booth Bushnell who likely received the materials from Relva Booth Ross. Relva was a niece of Joseph Wilford Booth. The donor, Pam Price, received the materials from her mother, Lucille Booth Bushnell. The collection was donated to L. Tom Perry Special Collections by Pam Price on June 10, 2001.
