Biographical / Historical

Alan K. Engen was born in 1940 to Alf Engen, skiing legend. He began skiing at age two and was a competitor in the sport at age 9. Having won numerous awards and competed in several events all around the world, Alan was named a Utah Ski Legend in 1988 and inducted into the U.S. National Ski Hall of Fame in 2004. Additionally, Alan is also credited for spearheading the building of the Alf Engen Ski Museum. Always interested in preserving the history of the sport, Alan has authored two books on the subject and has served as president of the Alta Historical Society, having spent over 50 years working closely with the Alta Ski Area.
