Biographical History

G. Scott Romney (1941- ) is a Mormon attorney in Michigan.

George Scott Romney was born on June 7, 1941 in Detroit, Michigan to parents George W. Romney and Lenore LaFount Romney. He spent all of his childhood in Michigan before serving as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Great Britain.

Scott receive his BA in economics from Michigan State University in 1996. Three years later he earned his Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Harvard Law School. In 1976, he began work in Detroit for Honigman Miller Schwartz & Cohn, LLP. Previous to that he practiced law with Sullivan & Cromwell in New York. He served as president of the Lakeway Corporation in Austin, Texas. He currently serves on the board of directors for the Compuware Corporation as well as Blue HealthCare Bank.

Romney married his first wife Ronna Stern in 1967 and together they raised five children. They divorced in 1992. A few years following his divorce he was married to his second wife Ellen Rogers. Together they had two more children. He and Ellen divorced in 2009. In July of 2011 Romney married his current wife Sheri Jelalian. In 1998, Romney announced his candidacy for office of Michigan Attorney General. He lost the nomination but in 2000 was appointed to Michigan State University Board of Trustees. Romney ran for and won a full eight-year term in November 2000. Other honors Romney has received were Best Lawyer in America (2009-2915), D Business, Top Lawyers (2010, 2011, and 2013), Michigan Superior Lawyers (2008), and was Martindale-Hubbell AV Preeminent Peer Review Rated Lawyer.

Romney currently lives in Michigan.
