Scope and Contents

Contains a bound book which is made up of an oral history interview with Wendell Van Twelves. There is also a series of correspondence between Wendell and Henry Sakaida, a couple of newspaper articles regarding Van Twelves's service in the military, and the accident and flying regulation violation record from his time in the military. All records except for the oral history interview are photocopies. Also contains a shorter version of this bound book with higher quality color photocopies of the photographs.

Biographical History

Wendell Van Twelves (1921-1991) was a fighter pilot during World War II and the Korean War. He was awarded a purple heart, silver star and flying cross.

Wendell Van Twelves was born June 7, 1921 in Spanish Fork, Utah. He attended Brigham Young University and the University of Colorado before enlisting in the military during World War II as a fighter pilot. Worked for U.S. Steel for twenty-three years. He died 20 November 1991, in Stanford, California.

Henry Sakaida (1951-2018) was an American writer who wrote relating to World War II.
