Biographical History

James H. Buck (1886-1953) was a train car inspector and Mormon missionary.

James Henry Buck was born January 31, 1886 in Nottingham, England to William Foulds Buck and Emma Emily Matilda Copeland. The family emigrated to the United States in 1885, settling in Wyoming. In 1907, Buck married Mary Emma Dawson. They had a son, but Mary died shortly thereafter. In 1913 he married Sarah Edith Cox, and together they had three children.

Buck worked as a coal miner and salesman before taking a job as a car inspector for the Union Pacific Railroad, where he worked for thirty-eight years. He also served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Great Britain from 1911 to 1914. Buck died November 6, 1953 in Ogden, Utah.
