Oral history interviews with Floyd and Clara Nielson and Inez Jones Young, conducted by Gary Shumway, Kim Stewart and Louise Lyne on 14 July 1971 and 12 July 1972 for the Utah State Historical Society and California State University, Fullerton Oral History Program. The subjects of the interviews are early Bluff and Blanding and Monticello, Utah history. The first interview is exclusively with Floyd, who discusses the cattle and sheep business, his life and family and experiences with American Indians in the area. The second interview is with Clara and Inez, who discuss their lives in Monticello, Utah.

Biographical History

Floyd Walton Nielson was born 15 September 1895 in Bluff, San Juan, Utah to Leona Jane Walton and Francis Nielson. He married Clara M. Jones 14 December 1917 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah. He died 19 October 1971 in Salt Lake City, Utah and was buried in Blanding.

Clara M Jones Nielson was born 23 July 1895 in Monticello, San Juan, Utah to Mary Mackelprang and Frederick Isaac Jones. She died 28 November 1985 in Blanding, San Juan, Utah.

Biographical History

Inez Henrietta Jones Young was born 31 March 1901 in Monticello, San Juan, Utah She married Claud Lamar Young 16 December 1921 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Inez died 9 May 1984 in Monticello, San Juan, Utah.
