The National Survey of Historic Sites and Buildings vol. XXVI

 Collection — Box: 1
Identifier: MSS 5781

Scope and Contents

This is a Xerox copy of the original manuscript, Reformers and Humanitarians, prepared by historians of the National Park Service. The original manuscript is filed and secured in the NPS. During the "Nixon Interregnum" questions as to the theme of this work were raised and because of scant budgets and bickering among elements in the Service, a decision was made not to publish the book. Suspecting "censorship," an employee at a level where this was possible made this copy. After many years, a query was made to the Congressional Joint Committee on Printing and a determination was made that because of the number of people involved in the writing of the draft, the work had been "published" in the legal sense had fallen into the public domain.
