Scope and Contents

Handwritten dedication in French. The item was written to "Mesdames Cooke-Daniels et Martin" thanking them for being the benefactors of the students studying in Spiez, Switzerland, on the occasion of the French national holiday, 14 July 1917. The students are grateful for the kindnesses shown them and say they are becoming good Frenchmen, worthy of the valiant soldiers who are suffering and dying during World War I. The item is signed by various students. A typewritten English translation of the manuscript is with the dedication.
