Neibaur family papers
Scope and Contents
Contains typed copies of a diary, biographies, autobiographies, and miscellaneous items. Neibaur kept his diary from 1841 to 1861. This typescript is 60 pages long, and there are many gaps in the record. Neibaur writes about leaving England for the United States. He lived in Nauvoo, Illinois, and later migrated to Utah in 1847 where he lived in Salt Lake City. Neibaur writes about his experiences with the presidents of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Joseph Smith and Brigham Young. Also included are biographies and autobiographies of other members of the Neibaur family including Hyrum Smith Neibaur and Sarah Ellen Neibaur O'Driscoll.

Biographical History
Alexander Neibaur (1808-1883) was a Mormon pioneer dentist and watch-maker in Utah.
Neibaur was born January 8, 1808 in Ehrenbreitstein, Koblenz, Rhineland, Prussia, Germany. His parents were Joseph Nathan Neibaur (Neubauer) and Rebecca (Rieke) Peretz. He was married September 16, 1833 to Ellen Breakell (1811-1870), and he had fourteen children. He also married September 1, 1871 to Elizabeth Hiley (1824-1896). He emigrated to Nauvoo, Illinois in 1841; taught German and Hebrew to Joseph Smith; and moved west with the Saints, arriving at Salt Lake in 1848.
