This collection contains 32 photographs relating to the Naahmah K. J. Carter Twiss Young family. Also in the collection is a photo album of the Young/Carter family containing several portraits taken by C. R. Savage.

Biographical / Historical

Naamah Kendall Jenkins Carter Twiss Young, daughter of Billings and Betsy Law Carter, was born at Wilmington, Massachusetts, March 20, 1821. She was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 3, 1842. She went to Nauvoo in March 1845 where she met John Saunders Twiss, whom she married on 30 May 1845. Her husband died September 10, 1845 and Naamah married Brigham Young on January 26, 1846. She moved with the rest of President Young's family to the Salt Lake Valley in 1848 and died in 1905.
