Biographical History

Arthur Pendry Welchman (1834-1919) school teacher, ranchman, High Priest in Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Arthur Pendry Welchman was born on April 20, 1834 in Kineton, England to Edward Welchman and Emma Jemima Williams. Arthur P. Welchman came to Utah in September 1854. He was a member of the Preston Thomas Oxteam Company and drove five yoke of oxen to the valley. In Utah he was a school teacher, ranchman, and a High Priest in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was very involved in education and in 1862 helped begin a permanent juvenile day school. He married Sarah Lucretia Kershaw on March 16, 1867 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Arthur Pendry Welchman died on April 3, 1919 in Grover, Wyoming.
