Scope and Contents note

This collection contains typewritten copies of an autobiography, diary, and a history of Beaver, Utah. Tolton and his family lived in Circleville and Beaver, Utah, during the Black Hawk War. Tolton's autobiography changes into a diary to cover his mission to Great Britain from 1884 to 1885. The diary was again started in 1890.

Biographical History

John Franklin Tolton was a Utah school teacher, politician, and businessman. He served as a Mormon missionary to Great Britain (1884-1885) and as president of the Beaver Stake (1908-1916).
