Mary Ritchie and Julia A. Ritchie letter to Sarah M. Cunningham
Scope and Contents
Contains one letter written on September 2, 1833, in Peterborough, New Hampshire by Mary Ritchie and Julia A. Ritchie. It is addressed to Sarah Cunningham, who had apparently relocated from Peterborough to Rockford, Illinois. The letter includes some reminiscences of past interactions, but primarily discusses the changes in the local church in Peterborough. Mary Ritchie briefly states that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has gained 115 converts. A short note written by Julia A. Ritchie, and addressed to her “dear Aunt,” concludes the letter.

Sarah M. Cunningham (1786-1868) was born to Samuel Cunningham and Susan Carter on May 4, 1786 in Peterborough, New Hampshire. She later married James Cunningham and moved to Rockford, Illinois. There she died on March 17, 1868.

Julia A. Ritchie, Julia Ritchie, Julia A. Richey, or Julia A. Follansbee (circa 1824-1898) was born around 1824 to Robert and Mehitable Ritchie. She married Noble Folansbee on October 13, 1864. She died in Peterborough, New Hampshire on September 21, 1898.
