Scope and Contents

Collection contains publicity and prints of paintings done on weathered wood with Native American and western themes. It also includes the famous "Iwo Jima" piece (signed) finished Sept. 10, 2001, and later presented to President George Bush. This print was signed about a year later at the reunion of the 4th Marine Division on Iwo Jima during the historic battle.

Biographical History

Nielson served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Western Samoa, Fiji, and the Cook islands. He taught art and worked as Art Director and Production Manager for the Polynesian Cultural Center in Laie (part of BYU-Hawaii) and has done commissioned work for the Tongan government. Nielson is also known for his Animal Illustration Posters (ca. 1970's) and portraits, including his North Hollywood graphics. In addition to artistic talent, he has sung back-up for Danny Kaye, Carol Burnett, Sonny & Cher, and the Osmonds.
