Biographical History

J. Spencer Cornwall was born on 23 February 1888. He succeeded Anthony Lund as director of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in 1935. During his tenure he expanded the choir's repertoire and directed their first European tour in 1955. Under his direction the choir "achieved the warm, homogenous sound that characterized its ensemble for many years." Cornwall passed away on 26 February 1983.
