Biographical / Historical

Theodore Eugere Olsen (1896-1963) was a Mormon living in the Iona, Idaho area.

Theodore Eugene Olsen, known as Eugene throughout his life, was born 21 September 1896 in Iona, Idaho to Theodore Ephraim and Mary Jane Cooper Olsen. He married Nina Johannah Clapp, daughter of Elijah Charles and Mary Caroline Nielson Clapp, on 29 August 1917 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Together they had five children: Marguerite, Ronald Lavon, Nina Virginia, Theo Eugene(who died in infancy), and Ephraim Kay. Their children in turn married: Marguerite to Joseph Daniel McNamara; Ronald to Opal Hughes, Nina to Joseph Galen Dahlquist, and Ephraim (known as Kay) to Zola Kaye Fannin. The family history in this collection relates to both the ancestors and descendants of Theodore and Nina Olsen. Theodore’s paternal family line include Olsen, Thorsen, Aslaksen, and Evensen. His maternal family lines include Cooper, Whitehead, Garlick, and Bult. Nina’s paternal family lines include Clapp, Mortensen, Loy, and Jensen. Her maternal family lines include Nielson, Christensen (2 lines), and Hansen.
