Biographical History

Andrew Vabre Devine was born in Flagstaff, Arizona, on October 7, 1905. He was a successful college football player during which time he went by the alias Jeremiah Swartz. He later gained a part in a silent movie. It was thought that his high raspy voice would threaten his career in the talkies but proved to be his trademark for popularity.
