Verl G. Dixon (1908-2001) was a politician and community leader in Provo, Utah.

A lifelong resident of Provo, Utah, Verl G. Dixon, was a respected public servant and administrator. He graduated from Brigham Young University in 1932 and attended Columbia University. Active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Dixon served a mission to France, Belgium, and Switzerland from 1929-1931, worked in the youth programs, and served in several Provo bishoprics. In 1943, he married Adryne Hodson in Salt Lake City, UT. His wife died shortly thereafter while Dixon was overseas. During World War II Dixon enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps and served from 1943-1945. On returning to Provo, he began his municipal administrative career by serving as the Utah County Clerk. He later served as County Commissioner, Mayor of Provo (1962-1973), head of the Utah Association of County Officials, and the head of the Utah Municipal League. Dixon also served the community and state in various capacities such as President of the local AARP chapter, President of the local Kiwanis Club, President of the Sons of the Utah Pioneers Club, Major in the Mormon Battalion, and chairman of his 25th college reunion. He was an active supporter of the Boy Scouts of America and worked at the National Headquarters for three years.

Contains Provo City Annual Reports (1863-1973), municipal tax information, and correspondence with federal and state legislators and ministries (state and federal dept.) regarding city projects and their funding. Also contains city council minutes, speeches, and correspondence with city and state officials and newspaper articles detailing the history of Provo, especially during his term as mayor.

The collection contains documents and newspaper clippings concerning Dixon's participation in social organizations, including the Mormon Battalion, Sons of the Utah Pioneers, AARP (American Association of Retired People), and the Kiwanis Club. Includes rosters, minutes, organizational manuals, and correspondence regarding the above groups.
