Hale collected the early life history of her paternal grandmother, Dorothy Bair Johnson Hale. Included are stories of her childhood and parents, her memories of Coke and hostess cupcakes when they had real cream inside, and memories of school and her courtship and marriage at 19 to Ellsworth Hunter Hale. The project was written for a folklore English class taught at Brigham Young University in 1997.
