Contains correspondence, personal records, writings, photographs, and memorabilia related Ermisch. Includes some correspondence with her first husband, Henry J. Halton, until his death in 1949. The majority of the records were created during her time with her second husband, Carl Ermisch, while they lived in Hawaii until her death in 1994.

Biographical History

Janette Lyon Ermisch (1908-1994) was a Mormon school teacher in Utah and Hawaii.

Janette J. Lyon was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on February 7, 1908, the youngest of ten children of David Ross Lyon and Mary Cairns. As a youth she attended LDS High School in Salt Lake City. She earned a degree in elementary education from the University of Utah and taught school in Sevier and Carbon counties and Salt Lake City, Utah. She married Henry John Halton (1937-1949) and Carl Robert Ermisch (1959-1993), and spent much of her married life in Hawaii. Janette died on July 22, 1994 in Honolulu, Hawaii.
