Materials contain a short memoir that focuses on one particular experience wherein H. Reed Black suffered a major lung injury from a German sniper's bullet in Beeck, Germany during his service in the U.S. Army in World War II. He titled this experience "Patriarchal Blessings Gives Faith to Survive Battlefield Wounds" updated May 31, 2000. Details the many ways in which his survival and recovery defied conventional medical wisdom. Photographs show Black alone, with fellow soldiers, and with his wife. Dated 1943-1944, 1990, May 31, 2000.
