Scope and Contents
Johnson collected folklore surrounding the kappa, a malevolent creature said to inhabit the rivers of Japan. The transcript of the e-mails between the author, Keith Johnson, and his informant, Kageyama Hikari, include stories of the origin of the kappa, incidents of kappa attacks, and how to outsmart a kappa. The project was written for an English 391 class taught at Brigham Young University in 1997.
