Scope and Contents
Submitted by BYU student Carla Macbeth for her Winter 1975 English 392 class. About the stories that Carla Macbeth's father John told, and the morals they contained. Includes a cover essay, autobiographical sketch, informant abstracts, and her father's stories. Stories include Mrs. Schmurzlicher's Cow and its corn and pearl her father found, the pearl-handled knife and how he prayed to find it, his "swearing", the grumpy church janitor, not calling Italians "wops", the side-hill galoots, the huge spider he found in Death Valley, her father's magic tricks, willow whistles and squash blowers, the wedding vows that included bread, hannapacosh, and the saying "Conduct yourself with probity".
