Scope and Contents note

Materials contain a short memoir written by William Stewart Bennett's wife, Lila Steffensen Bennett, regarding his's military service. Includes a description of his military and medical duties performed during action seen in nearly every major European battle following the invasion at Normandy. Also includes a list of his theaters of combat and decorations received. Contains a transcript of the eulogy and a speech, prepared by Bennett's son, given at his funeral. Includes a reprinted newspaper article detailing the history of Bennett's kidney problems and the hardships of needing dialysis. Photographs show Bennett prior to and after the war, and in military dress. Dated 1941-1946, January 28, 1968, January 1979, 2001.
