Scope and Contents
Submitted by Melissa Orantes about tattoos with tribal patterns and their various meanings throughout Polynesian cultures mostly Samoa. Contains a cover essay, and how informants received their tattoos or why. Generally indicative of tribal heritage and used as a rite of passage, meaning and type of tatoo heavily varies throughout each island. Collected by Mellissa Orantes for her Spring 2011 English 391 class under Dr. Eliason.
