Scope and Contents note

One compact disc containing files of Carol Petranek documenting the Black History Months from 2002-2008 at the Washington D.C. Temple Visitor's Center, excerpts from Petranek's journal entries on the beginnings of Black History Month at the center, 2000-2002, an article entitled the Measure of Creation, written by Carol for Segullah, on her experience with the beginnings of the center's Black History Month events, its draft, a PowerPoint printout on the Diversity Awareness Outreach Program for Washington, D.C. Region Stakes and Visitors Center, and Carol's first letter and memorandum to her stake presidency in the District of Columbia area and Elder and Sister Garff of the Washington D.C. Temple Visitor's Center.

Carol Kostakos Petranek helped form diversity outreach programs for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and establish Black History exhibits at the Washington D.C. Temple Visitor's Center.

Carol Kostakos Petranek helped form diversity outreach programs for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the D.C. area. She also helped establish Black History Month exhibits in the Washington D.C. Temple Visitor's Center and served as chairperson from 2002 to 2005. Carol Kostakos Petranek and her husband Gary are residents of Silver Springs, Maryland. They have four children.
