Scope and Contents note
This project is a collection of baseball superstitions. The analysis discusses how baseball players often rely on superstitions to attempt to control the amount of chance in the game, as well as create a sense of belonging. Claims that to some baseball enthusiasts, baseball is a religion and the magic of superstition can control the outcome. Discusses the importance of routine, rituals, taboos, and charms. Includes a 10 item collection, including the following superstitions: Mountain Dew routine, 7:13 AM routine, hot dog routine, wake up routine, no hitter rule, head charm, kissing Ms. Spears, the lucky penny, and the bottle charm.
