Boldly going : the fans of "Star Trek" / Whitnee Patton, 2009
Scope and Contents note
This project is a collection of interviews with Star Trek fans, called "Trekkies" and their beliefs and interest in the Star Trek popular TV series. The analysis gives a brief history of Star Trek and its immediate success in gathering fans. Comments on the importance of emotional and social connections with other Star Trek fans. Also discusses a common theme of searching for a Utopian ideal, or the appeal of existing in another world. Includes a 10 item collection that includes interviews with fans about topics such as how they got into shows, favorite episodes, the debut of the new Star Trek movie, and favorite characters. Collected by Whitnee Patton, Dr. Rudy's ENGL 391 class, Spring 2009.
