Basketball, full of folklore / David Parker, 2009
Scope and Contents note
This project discusses basketball as a source of folklore. The analysis describes how basketball fulfills the twin laws of folklore by having both dynamic and conservative elements, such as differences in rules but the general point of the game always stays the same. Also describes the methodology in obtaining and analyzing the interviews with people who play basketball, and detailing their experiences. Includes a 12 item folklore collection. Collected by David Parker, Dr. Thursby's ENGL 391 class, Winter 2009.
