This project contains the personal narratives of Swavek Bialkiewicz and his experiences with national holidays in his native Poland. This 12 item collection includes the following holidays and experiences: Imieniny, Dzien Kobiet, Tlusty Czwartek, Wielkanoc, Smingus Dyngus, Odpust, Swieto Pracy, Dzien Dziecka, Dzien Zmarlych, Andrzejki, Swiety Mikolaj, Swieta Bozego Narodzenia, Christmas dinners, gifts, potato peelings for bad children on St. Nicolas' Day, telling fortunes from melted wax, day for the remembrance of the deceased, drinking Vodka on Polish Labor Day, snap guns and cotton candy, throwing water on females, hunting out Easter presents, and donuts before Lent on "Fat Thursday." The audio disc contains the recorded interviews that were transcribed in this collection. Collected by Jenna Andersen, Dr. Jacqueline Thursby's ENGL 356 class, Winter 2008. Includes compact disc.
